Then we got to visit the Air Force Academy chapel and visitor's center. Got out and took some quick pictures of a B-52 bomber on the campus. We drove probably 20-30 minutes to get there. He definitely did a great job with leading us on this tour. But he was a great tour guide and I can see why he has such high reviews on here. I guess this way they only have to pay one employee to lead the tour, but I felt bad that he had to drive a bus full of people, maneuver through traffic, and talk at the same time. There is also a restroom in the back of the bus, though no running water for washing hands, and we ran out of TP later in the trip as well.ĭarcy was our driver AND tour guide. There were about 30 people on our bus, which was nice, because we had a lot of empty seats. He dropped us off at Cherry Creek shopping center and we got aboard a red Gray Lines tour bus. Our driver was great, and very informative. Our tour was booked through Viator but is actually run by Gray Lines Tours.Ī smaller bus picked us up in front of our airport near Denver airport at 7am, and then we went to two other hotels in downtown Denver to pick up two others. Sit back and relax on the scenic return drive, where you will be dropped off in central Denver at the end of your 10-hour tour. Drive up the historic Pikes Peak Highway to reach the vista point, where you can admire breathtaking views of surrounding, snow-capped peaks and the valleys below. Absorb the awe-inspiring surroundings, then enjoy a hearty lunch at the historic, adobe-style Garden of the Gods Trading Post Your tour comes to dramatic climax at the summit of Pikes Peak, which towers 14,115 feet (4,302 meters) above sea level. This National Natural Landmark boasts magnificent red sandstone formations surrounded by native trees and a popular network of hiking trails. Continue driving south through Colorado Springs to arrive at the enchanting Garden of the Gods park and nature center. Admire the 17 white spires of the distinctive Cadet Chapel and see the fighter planes and other aircraft that are often on display. Take a coach tour of this prestigious campus, which features well-manicured fields and training facilities set against the dramatic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. After an approximately 1-hour drive from Denver, arrive at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Head south in a comfortable coach while learning about Colorado’s history and the changing landscape around you. To begin this full-day tour, your friendly driver and guide will pick you up at your Denver hotel. The area between Denver and Colorado Springs to the south is filled with natural and cultural highlights and makes a rich ground for exploring Colorado’s history.
